I’m sitting here right after my run on Saturday, feeling mentally tired, but I know I need to start pushing myself more in the coming months, so I’ll figure it out. On this run, I revisited my old trails that I don’t get to visit often because of time constraints. It gave me some energy, as I truly love these trails on the eastern slope of the Sierras that offer tough, humbling climbs for miles and plenty of technical downhills to enjoy and let loose a little.
Sometimes, I struggle during weeks like these when I push my body to uncomfortable limits between work and running. But I know I am building toward something that will change me forever in a few months. It scares me a little about what’s coming, but I hope to be prepared for the challenge and to grow from it.
While I was running today, I thought about how I might be inspiring those around me without even realizing it. This idea kind of creeps me out a bit because some people consider what I do extreme, but I truly enjoy pushing my body to the limit. There’s a feeling I get when my body is sore and tired at the end of the day that I can’t quite explain, but it feels good to me.
Sometimes I surprise myself with what I can push through, mentally and physically.
