Training Log 4/19/2026-4/25/2026
Lifted super heavy at the gym on Sunday and felt very sore until almost Thursday. Battling low energy later in the week, but still got some quick runs in. Kept my runs closer to race pace for the week, with strong paces at the end of each run. My new fueling strategy seems to be helping keep my legs from getting as sore or fatigued on longer runs. Going to keep about the same for next week’s distances, with the following week being what runners call a shock week.

I have a friend, my age, who struggled with alcohol but has been improving over the past three years. It’s inspiring to see the positive changes he’s making on his sobriety journey. Recently, I asked what he’s doing this weekend. It’s great to know he’s spending time with his granddaughter, visiting a local farm to feed animals like baby goats and pigs. Watching him talk about these moments and the happiness they bring is uplifting. He becomes a bit emotional when discussing time with her and seeing the other young ones enjoy life as they should. Had he still been drinking, he might have missed all this.
It’s never too late to change for the better. You could be missing out on enjoying the moment.
